Leroy Carter Jr.

In 1981, a 24-year-old man was murdered in Golden Gate Park, San Francisco. He had been decapitated, with a chicken stuffed inside his corpse. A detective who was familiar with the occult believed that it was a ritual murder, related to the voodoo like practice of Palo Mayombe. She theorized that, if correct, the head would return to the same location in 42 days. Fellow officers scoffed at her claims, but sure enough, 42-days-later the head turned up at the scene of the murder. They never caught the killer.

West Memphis Three

In West Memphis, Arkansas, the butchered bodies of three local boys were found on the banks of a creek. The positioning and mutilation of the bodies lead the police to believe that it was part of a satanic ritual. Authorities and townsfolk quickly turned their attention on three local teenagers, who liked to wear black and listen to heavy metal music. The teenagers were quickly accused of murder, found guilty, and sentenced to death. But there was no evidence to indicate that they were responsible. After they were found guilty, new DNA evidence disproved their involvement with the murders and they were freed after 18 years in prison. The real killer was never found.

Elisa Lam

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3TjVBpyTeZM

What really happened to Elisa Lam? We’ll never know. We don’t even know the real cause of death. But the circumstances around the case are so scary, that the upcoming season of American Horror Story: Hotel is based around it. 21-year-old, Elisa Lam came to Los Angeles in 2013. She chose to stay at the infamous Cecil Hotel.

The history of the hotel had always been ominous. Since the hotel opened in 1927, it had been a central figure in dozens of ghost stories, with guests claiming to see paranormal activity inside the walls of the strange hotel. But who cares about ghosts when real life monsters live there too?

Satanist and serial killer, Richard Ramirez lived at the hotel while he terrorized the streets of Los Angeles in the mid eighties. It’s believed he murdered 13 people while staying at the hotel. Austrian serial killer, Jack Unterweger, also stayed at the hotel in 1991. He murdered three prostitutes during his stay. The serial killers weren’t the only stain on the Cecil Hotel’s history. During the 50s and 60s, it was a notorious suicide hotspot.

But nothing in the history of the Cecil Hotel was as terrifying as the incident that occurred in 2013. You might have thought it was an urban legend. Think again.

In February 2013, guests at the Cecil Hotel started to complain that the water tasted rotten. The color was off, and the smell was repulsive. A hotel employee went to investigate the water tank stationed on the roof. After climbing up a ladder, and removing the heavy door leading to the tank, he discovered why the water tasted so bad. The body of Elisa Lam had been decomposing in the water tower for 19 days. She was found naked, with her belongings floating beside her and covered in a ‘sand-like substance.’ There was no suicide note.

The door to the roof was locked and alarmed, raising questions about how she could get on the roof in the first place. Additionally, you needed a ladder and a strong arm to climb the tank and get inside. There was no ladder on the scene, and Elisa was 5.5ft and weighed only 121 lbs.

If you’re already feeling creeped out, don’t keep reading.

The case went viral after elevator footage from the hotel was released. It was the last time Elisa Lam would be seen alive. In the video, the elevator appears to malfunction and Elisa starts to act strange. At one point she peers around the corner as if someone is chasing her, and she hides from an entity that is never revealed.

As a final nail in the totally creepy coffin, Elisa’s phone was never recovered. But her Tumblr account mysteriously started to post images up to six months after she died. Images, like this one, which was retrieved from her Tumblr account:

Experts believe that she had set up her Tumblr posts automatically before her death. But it’s still creepy as hell. After postponing the official cause of death several times, it was officially ruled as an accident. That’s one freaky accident. We think we’ll avoid that hotel at all costs.

The Phantom Patient

From: Anonymous

“The ambulance company that I used to work for had a ‘haunted’ ambulance: rig 12,” recounts Reddit.com user Zerbo. “A lot of EMTs had stories about it, but I never put much stock in paranormal stuff. That is, until I had my own experience with rig 12.

“My partner and I were working in a rural community at 3 a.m., and it was pitch-dark and completely quiet. We were both dozing; I was in the driver’s seat, and she was in the passenger seat. I woke up to a muffled voice, but I thought my partner was talking. I told her I was trying to sleep and closed my eyes. I distinctly heard a male voice say, ‘Oh my God, am I dying?’ followed by a few seconds of heavy breathing. My partner and I sat up straight and looked back into the patient compartment, where it sounded like the voice had come from.

“Things were quiet for a couple of seconds; then we heard the click of an oxygen-bottle regulator and a hiss, as if it was leaking. I turned on the lights, and we ran out of the rig. I thought a transient might have climbed in while we were asleep, so we opened the rear doors. No one was there. I checked the oxygen bottles; neither was opened. We didn’t sleep much after that.”

My Childhood Ghost Experience

From: krees17

I had encountered quite a few of ghost experience in my life up to now. I am currently a teenager but when I was around 7 years old. I remember this night as if it happened yesterday, no one believes me they keep saying stuff like “it was just a dream” or “you watch too much scary stuff” and it goes on and on and on. Lets get into the experience, my bed was facing the door way and my door was always open and I had my lights on constantly in the night, I was watching a old program on my t.v when I looked outside my door to see a white old figure of a woman walking past my room into my youngest brother room. At the time my youngest brother was downstairs with my parents because he didn’t want to sleep in his room. As the ghostly figure past I stared while she walked past. She was wearing a long white dress with a bonnet on her head. While I was telling my parents this they said the house was built on a farm. Due to my town was mostly farms in the old days. My 2nd experience was when Charlie Charlie was trending. I did in my house (this was a new house because for some reason we used to move a lot). And I told my 2 brothers that you can make people think that its real by blowing the two pencils. And once you do this game you are meant to have at least 2 people (at least this is what I have been reading from the internet) and then you are meant to brake the 2 pencils in half and burn the paper. My parents wouldn’t allow me to burn the paper so I broke the pencils in half and ripped the paper into shreds and put them in the bin. In the night I woke up about 12:00am I looked at my phone to the time 12:00am. Then once I put my phone back down I heard a child’s laughter. And I immediately sat up and looked around to see that no one was there. I ran into my parents room and said it was a nightmare when in know it wasn’t. In the same house I was downstairs watching mama mia with my mother when we heard my youngest brother again shouting on top of his lungs. My mother asked me to go up to see what was the matter and I opened the door to see my brother on the bottom of the bunk bed (my 2 brothers shared the room and had bunk beds) he was on the bottom bunk bed in the corner with the blanket on top of him crying his eyes out. I asked him what was wrong and he said that he was getting on the top of the bunk bed when the door slammed shut. He tried to open it when it was not opening. We told my mother and she said it was probably just the wind but the windows was shut and no wind could get in. 3rd one was in school when there was rumors that in the girls bathroom there was a ghost. And I went in to check and I said hello and there was a little girls laughter and I quickly ran out. My 4th one was when me and my ‘sister’ was playing cat scratch on each other. This was last year in 2017. After we played it my mother wanted us to clean up the place. After we was done we sat down to watch tv and I had a burning sensation on my back. I asked my sister to check when she said it was scratches all over my back in X’s I checked her back and It was just scratches. But the scariest thing is that we didn’t play cat scratch at all. My 4th is still going now. I don’t know if its a ghost or a animal but it is freaking me out. Due to my parents braking up and my mother having a new boyfriend we have to move house. Me and my ‘sister’ share a room and we have a attic and mostly every night there will be like a running sound. One night I couldn’t get to sleep so I stayed up all night till I could and it turned to 3:00am ( the witching hour) and I was lying in my bed on my room watching YouTube and at the time I had a bunk bed and my ‘sister’ was up her mother’s. While it was 3:00 i heard the running again but it was way louder than the normal running. It was like someone was running from my part of the room to the other side of the house. It reminds me from I think it was Samara from the ring when she was running and her legs was over lapping her arms (I am probably thinking of another movie but oh well). And last Halloween me and my youngest brother went upstairs and the attic entrance was open. No one goes up there at all. We had our mothers boyfriend to check and he said there was no one up there. No sign of a animal, no sign of a human nothing. Just some suitcases and rubbish. And the last one did not happen to me. I happened to my dad. He told me that he was lying in bed and he saw a white figure of a lady in his room and she just walked out of his room and disappeared. But he said he was a little drunk because he came from a guys night out. And that was why he asked me if I played any paranormal games in the house. But I know I wouldn’t because I am not aloud to play them or to play with a Ouija board because stuff happens but he is not really a big believer of ghosts...

All I got to say is if you play with the Ouija board make sure you respect the ghosts, play with another person and pass it on to someone else if you are done or burn it and hope to god nothing won’t happen to you. And take caution of playing paranormal games. Don’t be dumb like me.

Haunted/abandoned hospital

From: Alfie Grainger

Me and my friend decided to go to this abandoned hospital where we always go. We walked along way, so we stopped off at a park very near the hospital just for a few minutes. ( bear in mind that My phone was on 31% at the time), I got my phone out to take a quick video but when we tried to watch the video back, my phone went to a blank screen and wouldn't come on at all! After a minute of trying, my phone came on with the Apple logo but before it come on properly it said at the bottom of my screen that I had to plug into a power source so I brushed it off and we went to the abandoned hospital.

Every time we go there, none of us ever feel scared , we just feel normal but as soon as we stepped foot Inside the gates , I felt as if someone or something was there or watching us so I told me friend and to my surprise he felt the same way so we continued to walk and find the entrance because it was all boarded up, we went inside the garden area , we didn't go inside cause we were scared which is weird because we always go inside and never feel a single It of freight so we climbed on the wall and sat there. For some reason, everything felt normal again for both of us and we wasn't scared anymore and I it my phone out not expecting it to turn on but IT DID ! And it was on 10% but it stayed on 10% for hours for some reason. That isn't even the scariest part! When I got home I facetimed my nan and told her and she believed me straight away which I thought was weird , but she started to tell me that (at the time my phone was off and I was in the hospital) that she had facetimed me and it showed a picture of a house with a doorway and a sofa and something she couldn't make out on the right hand side, then she said she face timed me again and all she could see was like a red carpet of some sort but she could hear nothing!

This really freaked me out and I don't really know for sure it was an 'experience' cause I didn't see anything but I'm am VERY sure it wasn't normal .

My own ghost experience!

From: Jake Simpson

I'm working security at the site of a closed hotel in Lyndhurst, in the New Forest in England (the Lyndhurst Park Hotel), all boarded up and waiting to be torn down. I live in a caravan onsite and sleep there (nobody can get any sleep in the building, it's too weird), the whole buildings impossible to get into now without me knowing, and the whole grounds are thoroughly fenced and chained up. its a pretty secure site.

It started with just weird feelings whenever I was on my own feeling like i was being watched. a few times I'll look up at the windows in the older part of the hotel, and sometimes i swear there's someone staring back at me out of the first floor ones (the ground floor ones are boarded up). it looks like a pale old man but every time I look again he's gone. sometimes when you look throu the holes in the shutters you can just almost see shadows of people inside dancing or talking and when you bang on the thing or take a better look there gone.

I'm not the only one whos seen them all the lads have said the same but weve been told not to talk about it because the company doesn't want any rumors' getting round which is fair enough.

The other night was the last straw. Just before 3am i was woken up by this really horrible feeling like being a bath of ice and the caravan felt like it was spinning. i got out and in the moonlight I saw a bloke standing in the grounds so i shouted 'OY' and he looked around and stared he was an old bloke, maybe early 70s late 60s but he was wearing a wig like a judge or something, and weird old clothes. i asked "who are you" and he said he was duke but he was an old feller so i asked for his real name and he said he was called stack pole. i said he wasn't allowed to be hear because it was all closed off he said "you cant stop a man walking about his grounds" i said there not your grounds mate were knocking it all down and he turned around and stared me right in the eyes and started screaming and suddenly everything was spinning and it was like i was in a ice bath again and then I opened my eyes and i was lying down on the grass and when i checked my phone again it was 5am. i wrote it down in the report book but they rubbed it out said we shouldn't put that sort of thing down on record but I know im not the only one whos seen him.

My ghost experience/death encounter

From: Kayla Ryan

I've always believed in ghosts, when I was young I remember the day my grandma died the phone flew off the counter. I had some other minor experiences of feeling creeped out at an area towards my bus stop when I was a teenager and even heard a disembodied voice whisper my name a few times down there. I also found some of my personal belongings down there too. Anyways, I never really had a solid one on one true ghost experience until I moved into apartment 22 at the grey stone apartments in Redmond Oregon. I was forewarned by the previous tenants that there were spirits who resided there. A dominant spirit and then a weaker one, who they described could have been a child but was controlled by the powerful one. I didn't take it too serious but it intrigued me, they seemed fine and when I asked the landlord if anything crazy ever happened there (his family has owned them for 30-40 years now) he denied anything occurred. I thought well why would he tell me it might make me wanna find somewhere else to live. So the first few months were fine, creepy things happened almost on a weekly basis. Usually when I was home alone but I saw a black shadow out of the corner of my eye a few times while my boyfriend and roommates were there. My cat whom I had owned previous to moving in would seem to watch corners of the room, or upstairs he would sit on my bed and tenatively stare at the hallway. That was unusual. When I was home alone and if I was sitting downstairs the doors upstairs would slam. Even if all the windows and outside doors were shut. Or if I was upstairs the downstairs bathroom door would slam shut for no reason, also usually without a draft. The earliest abnormal occurrence happened one day when my roommates were at work, my boyfriend and his friend left to go on a bike ride, and my mom and I were visiting upstairs. After about 15-20 minutes, I heard the front door open and someone go into the kitchen and start making something to eat. My mom heard it to I just assumed it was my boyfriend and they were grabbing a bite to eat really quick. We heard a glass on the counter, the fridge open and a beverage poured. We also heard some more moving around of plastic tuberware and what not. My mom then told me she wanted to leave because she wasn't all that fond of my boyfriend at the time and wanted me to walk her to the door. As soon as I got downstairs and glanced to the left into my kitchen, there was absolutely nothing. No dishes out, no boyfriend or his friend. Nothing. My mom and I were both spooked then it dawned on me that the whole time we heard someone in the kitchen, I never once heard a voice. Shortly after that incident I was alone one night the roommates at work and my boyfriend and I were fighting so he left. My cat was inside and that was it besides me. I decided to walk down to 7/11 to grab some munchies n kinda clear my mind. I locked the door and even double checked it to see if it was locked because it was bulky and old and didn't shut all the way sometimes. It was definitely locked. I turned and took exactly 3 steps towards the alley way and heard a metal click sound. It sounded like my door being unlocked. Being intrigued once again because I knew I lived with a ghost I turned around to open my door and it opened right up. Unfortunately for me I thought this haunting was neat, I prided myself on it, shared my experiences with friends and didn't think anything bad would happen. That idea ended when my roommate moved out and my brother moved in. He is a very kind person and easy to live with. I trust him fully and he's not much of a prankster. He came into my room one night and asked me what I had wanted, I asked him what he meant? He told me someone just knocked on his door and it must have been me because my boyfriend and I were in our room and his girlfriend was in the bathroom. I told him I never knocked on his door it was probably my ghost! A few nights later it all turned ugly. He came into my room once again, lifted his shirt and told me he had been awakened by a burning sensation. There were close to 50-100 tiny fresh scratches all across his entire chest. It looked as if a cat could do it but his cat and mine weren't in the room and if it had been one of them he didn't feel any paws or weight shifting on the bed. I should've taken that as a warning sign. He quickly moved out within the next one or two weeks and it was just my boyfriend and I living there. On December 22nd, 2009 I was decorating the apartment with my boyfriend for Christmas. We had all kinds of things laying out including some of his tools he used to work on his bikes. I was feeling frustrated and naggy and reluctantly picked up some of his tools to get them out of the way. I remember running upstairs with a drill bit screw driver in my hand and when I almost got to the top of the staircase I tripped on a stair and fell. When I stood up I didn't notice anything except the screwdriver was no longer in my hand. As I glanced down I saw the handle sticking out of my torso and my first instinct was to pull it out. I panicked and ran downstairs to tell my boyfriend what happened and we searched for our phone, which we couldn't find right away for some reason. I made it to the hospital and miraculously and lasserated my liver by 6". I didn't hit my spine and it was a clean insertion. No surgery just 6 weeks of bed rest and eventually my liver would heal itself. I thought it was ironic I hit the only organ that's capable of healing itself after a traumatic injury and have always believed I had a guardian angel. When I got home from the hospital on Christmas day, my father visited me who was somewhat of a spiritual traveler. He looked me in the eye and asked me, "You know it was those spirits that got ya, right?" My heart sunk. In the midst of all the drama I had forgot about my somewhat violent ghost. I decided that I didn't want to stay to see what else they had in store. I requested to move into a new apartment to my landlord and within the next few weeks we switched. Unfortunately once again tragedy befell me right before I moved out, my beautiful black cat disappeared. I had raised him since he was a kitten up until the age of 5. He would follow me to the store, hang out with me and sleep in my room. I looked for him for weeks but I never saw him again. However, I'm happy to say that since I moved out I never had another violent ghost experience since, although I've encountered some spirits here and there. I also still have chronic pain from where I was lasserated.
