I am now 57 years old and at the age of 5 or 6 I too saw this "thing". About 6' tall..black against the blackness of the night, but I could still make out everything he was wearing. Standing in the doorway to my bedroom- just standing there "watching me". He wore an oversized coat(shabby- like it would have been 2 sizes too big on him), a hat very similar to Frosty the Snowman but with wrinkles and folds in it- as did his coat (have wrinkles and folds in it also) so he was at least 2 or 3 dimensional.He was fairly solid- not wispy or anything I could only see him from the waist up because I had a footboard that blocked him from the waist below. His right arm from shoulder to elbow was against his body,(his other arm most likely straight down) and then from elbow to end of hand it was outstretched and forward to me with a small little bag or pouch resting in/on his palm. The only other person I EVER told this to years ago was my sister who is two years younger than me.A relative recently asked me if I had ever seen a ghost.(Actually I had seen a floating orb/laser like light in my bedroom when I was 16 but thats a whole other discussion-no I was not dreaming that one either- I WAS WIDE AWAKE!!!). SO I went on the web.. and come to find out my story is common.Now I NEVER EVER heard of shadow hat man until a day or two ago.. as it came up in a search and I always brushed this thing in the back of my mind but always knew WHAT I saw..I just know what I saw in the late 1950's standing in my bedroom doorway watching me. I mean I could have told my sister I saw a floating tiger or a funny witch with wings or a bucket of balls float in front of me but NO-what I described to HER YEARS ago(50) is exactly what I am reading about today....so WHY do all of us have this same experience?.I probably watched him or looked at him for just a few minutes and after that I was so terrified I just put my head under the covers till I fell back asleep till daylight.I always hated to tell anyone.. but my sister was the only one who ever knew. He was regular height,no facial features, had all the outline though of a "person" and fairly dimensional..couldn't see through him.I hope I NEVER EVER see one again- and have not....scared the heck out of me.Like I said I am now 57 years old, and for me to have this recollection like it happened yesterday tells you something. At the time this happened I dubbed him "The Sandman" only because he was a "man" and I thought he maybe had sand in his little pouch I have been enjoying reading about other people who have had similar experiences. Alarge shadowy man called the Saunemin Giant ghost is described as wearing an outfit similar to the figure you saw in the 1950s. The Saunemin Giant has been seen many times near the town of Saunemin,IL. usually along 5 Mile Creek. run a search on the Saunemin Giant for reports.
After a long time I have seen a perfect thread. I have spent lot of my time in searching such a post. Now I am very happy and I would like to come here again.
People come to me and say that now good posts are not available. Now I will give them link of this post. Surely, my step will change their thinking.
